Preface

Financial Overview 1
Strategic Production
(1987) DOMAIN brings to Canada the unique productivity of Ecoculture,
using Circuited ECOdynamic Systems.
This integrated ecosystemic production of crops makes it possible
for Canada to meet the critical problems of producing food,
about 86% of which is imported from such places as California, Arizona,
Texas, Florida and Mexico.
These geographical sources, in the south of the temperate zone,
have declared that their present exports will only meet the needs
of the states immediately adjacent to them - by the end of the '80's!
DOMAIN's ecosystemic production of crops helps Canada's balance
of payments and eliminates transport costs.
This production even makes it possible to have fresh produce available -
by locating the source of production near the place where it is consumed.

The DOMAIN ECOdynamic
Communications Foundation
(1987) The DOMAIN ECOdynamic Communications Foundation has as its objects:
The gathering, structuring and distribution of information
related to the functions of The DOMAIN ECOdynamics Research Foundation.
The
exploration and development of media and methods of communication
within and between organisms, between organisms and their environment
and within and between member systems of the environment.
The discovery of a universal communications model.
It is an hypothesis that all systems are open.
There are no systems which do not have some kind and degree of connection
with other organisms or their environment.
It is assumed that over the connections both energy and pattern flow.
The flow of energy and pattern constitutes communication within organisms,
between organisms, between organisms and their environment
or within and between member systems of the environment.

DOMAIN Newsletter
(1988) I want to share a kind of brief diary with you.
Friday, April 8th we met with the Assistant Director
of the Montreal Botanical Garden and one of his senior members of staff. Montreal Botanical Gardens are supplying a good number of specie
from the Amazon to the conference.
DOMAIN is simulating the high light intensity, the high temperatures
and the high humidity and high rate of water and mineral cycling
typical of the rainforests.
We aspire to use rainforests species to show the ecosystem relations
between a large number of species, with rapid mineral cycling
and organic cycling, with high biomass intensity.
The high species diversity of the rainforests is very significant.

The ECOhealth Initiative
(1982) The ECOhealth Initiative
ECOhealth plans a series of Controlled-Environment Cropping Gardens.
These crop gardens are to be located in many parts of the world,
but the first gardens will be in Canada.
A site was acquired, in Waterloo Region, Ontario, in 1986.
The term “Cropping Gardens” is used because it involves food production.
Yet, monoculture, the uniform appearance of only one species or variety
in a given environment, is not advocated, thus the terms “Gardens”.
There are four reasons for protected and controlled environments:

Economic Impact - Appendix
(1987) Locally, we have been requested to provide data and judgement
for the water supply question for the City of Cambridge.
Dr. Durrah of the University of Cairo has visited us
to request us to supply desalination equipment
according to our patents, to Egypt.
The initial requirement for 3,000 to 5,000 meters per day.
The equipment cost is valued at $9.6 million U.S. currency.
We are proposing to joint venture the engineering
with either Phillips, Barratt, Kaiser Engineering Ltd.,
who have met with us, or Lavalin
and to produce the Vacuum- sonic systems locally.

(1984) The nearest experience to the Domain Media
is the IMAX cinematic system at Ontario Place .
There the immense screen provides an image
which engages even the periphery of one's visual field.
This engaging of the periphery of one's visual field
prevents the critical reference to the context at the edge of the screen
and provides an extraordinary kinaesthetic experience.

Financial Policies of the
DOMAIN Organizations
(1991) Re: DOMAIN Environments Corporation and
DOMAIN ECOdynamic Research Foundation
Financial Policies
For nearly the whole period of more than five years
DOMAIN Environments Corporation has operated,
now as a federal corporation,
it has coexisted with a charitable foundation:
DOMAIN ECOdynamics Research Foundation.
DOMAIN Environments Corporation provides:
space, equipment use, staff time, etc.
to DOMAIN ECOdynamics Research Foundation.
DOMAIN ECOdynamics Research Foundation
accrues liabilities to DOMAIN Environments Corporation.
The staff of DOMAIN Environments Corporation
provide loan capital to the corporation
and hold a nominal one share each.
The value of these shares
constitute the unconverted capital gains
of each member of the staff.

Human Habitation or Human Function
(1987) Every facility for human habitation or human function is selective.
It is selective by means of location, by means of its costs,
but perhaps by means of its character or nature
more so than by any other means.
Because Domain is dedicated to ecological planning,
to development which heals the environment,
to an integrated response to the United Nations World Commission
on Environment and Development, the Brundtland Commission,
what we plan for human habitation or human function
reflects human dependencies, human dependencies upon other life forms
and human dependence upon one another in social groups,
social sets, social systems or organizations.
Effective, efficient, sustainable development requires moral concern,
moral compassion and moral cares.
It requires human behaviour with self administered control,
an awareness of the consequences of each person's acts
and each person's neglect.

(1988) DOMAIN is dominantly a planning - life science group.
DOMAIN sustains research as a primary activity,
but without transmitting that research,
its social and moral value would be lost.
To transmit research findings,
DOMAIN has been developing special skills in:
1) communication,
2) education,
3) training and
4) organization.

Our objectives are:
1) relief of poverty
2) education
3) community service
4) religious tolerance.
The reason for these objectives, stated in these words,
is because common law defines the only reasons for charity
to be categorized under these four headings.
The fourth of these objectives, in common law vernacular,
is simply stated religion.

Aerobic or microaerophylic bacteria and monocotyledons

Anaerobic bacteria and dicotyledons (tap roots)
Because monocotyledons have finely divided, filamentous root structures
and they situate shallowly, in the top surface of the soil,
they may be especially adapted to use nutrients supplied
by aerobic or microaerophylic bacteria.

After our discussion, yesterday afternoon, I called a staff meeting today.
The objectives of the meeting were for the staff of hear a description
of the nominated project and for me to gather some initial ideas
about the project from them.
It was a very fruitful meeting as you will see from the remainder of the memo.
