Projects
Ecophysics Lab is currently working on three major projects. Together, these projects aim to understand how the co-evolution of flower-hummingbirds has led these small birds to develop unique traits that have been little studied or unknown.
We invite you to browse through each of these projects to learn more about the research carried out in our lab.
3D Modelling Projects (Morphoteam, CT scanning, Photogrammetry)
We’re utilizing new and established 3D digitization techniques and pushing their limits to help us understand these tiny birds.
Floral Characteristic Impact on Hovering energetics
With the tight coevolution of plants and their hummingbird pollinators, we investigate the impact that features of a flower have on the hummingbird flight and metabolism.
Multispectral Coloration at the Burke Museum
Given early research about hummingbird vision, we investigate how hummingbirds see other hummingbirds using full spectrum cameras and specialized analyses.
